Position Overview:

Central Boiler Companies Maintenance Technicians work in an on-call team environment and perform highly diversified duties relating to repairs and maintenance of the facility, plant manufacturing equipment, auto/truck fleet maintenance, and general groundskeeping. General knowledge of facilities and plant maintenance, along with basic construction, plumbing, welding, and automobile/truck mechanical skills are necessary.

Responsibilities:

Must be able to:

  • Prioritize, respond and troubleshoot a variety of facilities and plant maintenance repair requests, i.e., plumbing, removing old equipment, installing new equipment, welding, fixing overhead doors, forklift and vehicle maintenance 
  • Complete scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM) work orders 
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance on company trucks and trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and brake system issues.
  • Ensure vehicles meet DOT safety standards and maintain service records.
  • Perform tire installation, rotation, balancing, and repairs, ensuring proper alignment and adherence to safety standards for optimal fleet vehicle performance.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for major repairs or inspections. 
  • Perform general groundskeeping activities such as snow removal along with lawn maintenance 
  • Drive forklifts, tractors, sweeping machines, mowers, semis, trucks, and automobiles
  • Preference to CDL holders
  • Troubleshoot, problem solve and elevate any issues to Lead/Supervisor 
  • Willing to assist other areas as assigned and needed 
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment corresponding to departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor and/or Group Leader 
  • Willing and able to work overtime as needed such as for snow removal.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • High School diploma, GED or relevant work experience
  • General knowledge of facilities and plant maintenance skills along with basic construction, plumbing, welding, basic automobile and truck maintenance
  • Forklift, scissor lift, boom lift and other vehicle certification as required
  • Available for after-hours maintenance work such as when production line is down or for snow removal
  • Basic computer navigation and typing skills 
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English 
  • Work efficiently with the ability to prioritize daily workload with minimal supervision
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills 
  • Composed during stressful situations
  • Detail oriented and capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well
  • Team Player

Preferred Qualifications/Selection Criteria

  • Associates Degree or certificate from vocational school 
  • Previous general maintenance experience

Physical Requirements such as below

  • Able to work at heights of up to 30 feet while safely using a scissor lift or boom lift  
  • Able to lift up to 55 lbs, using hoists for heavier items
  • Standing, sitting, squatting, walking, kneeling, stooping, crouching and reach out to arm’s length and reaching overhead  
  • Repetitive use of upper extremities.
  • Work safely around moving equipment, power tools, and industrial vehicles.

Compensation: starting at $20.73/hour with overtime available. This role may also be eligible for prior experience, skill, licensure, and/or certification pay differentials that will be in addition to the starting pay rate.
